NSW Secondary Principals’ Council elects new President

The NSW Secondary Principals’ Council (NSWSPC) is pleased to announce the election of Chris Presland as the new President of the NSWSPC. The NSWSPC is the professional body representing Principals of government schools and colleges in NSW that have secondary school enrolments. The Council works closely with senior officials from the NSW Department of Education and the NSW Education Minister and provides advice on matters relating to public secondary education in NSW.

As Principal of St Clair High School for the past 8 years, Mr Presland said he was delighted to take on the presidency and acknowledged the work of outgoing President Lila Mularczyk whose four-year term has come to an end.

“It is a great honour and privilege to be appointed as President of the NSW Secondary Principals’ Council and I thank Lila for her outstanding leadership and dedication in the role over the past four years,” Mr Presland said.”The success of our organisation is reflected by our history of outstanding leaders. We will carry their work forward by continuing to build partnerships and give policy advice to ensure the NSW public education system remains one of the most highly regarded education systems nationally and internationally.”

As Deputy President of the NSWSPC for the past 6 years, Mr Presland believes the influential role of the Council in shaping secondary education in NSW will continue to grow:

“I look forward to taking up the challenges of a new era of educational reform and drawing on the expertise and intellectual capacity of our membership to ensure decisions are made based on the best interests of students in NSW public schools.”

Mr Presland’s appointment is for an initial term of two years.
